Sample and standardisation

Maintaining consistency in marking

We establish clear and detailed marking guidelines outlining criteria for assessing different types of questions, grading rubrics, and performance indicators. These guidelines serve as a reference point for markers to ensure uniformity in assessment. We also conduct comprehensive training sessions for markers to familiarise them with the guidelines, standards, and expectations. Training includes practical exercises, sample assessments, and discussions to address any uncertainties and promote consistency.

Sample assessments and standardisation processes

We familiarise markers with the format, content, and expected responses so that they understand the application of marking guidelines and standards. We have regular communication with our markers throughout the standardisation process. This communication supports consensus-building, clarifies ambiguities, and ensures consistency among markers.

We also implement quality assurance checks to review a sample of marked assessments periodically. This ensures adherence to marking standards.
